Ken Hershberger
Founder & President
Ken Hershberger is the Founder and President
of KC3 IT Services, an IT consulting firm that provides expert and personal
service to data-driven businesses throughout Hampton Roads.
Before starting his own IT services company
in 2007, Ken succeeded for more than 20 years in a variety of IT technician
and leadership positions, often leading large IT departments with
budgets ranging from $20 - $35 million.
His IT expertise includes IT relocations, IT asset
management, IT project management, remote data backup, IT asset disposal
and recycling, network management,
network solutions, technical support, information systems engineering,
information security, wireless mobility solutions, remote access security,
datacenter operations management, data disaster recovery, and data
disaster management.
What separates KC3 IT Services from other network consulting
companies is the business acumen Ken brings to each client. "We're
not here to just install the hardware," he says. "I bring
a knowledge of how businesses operate from the CEO on down, and how
IT can be used as a force multiplier, competitive edge and profit
center."
One of Ken's favorite sayings, which is also a work ethic that flows through his IT company, is from Aristotle: We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.
Work of Distinction
• Program Manager for a 15-month-long upgrade to the Altiris Total Management Suite in a 4,000 node enterprise.
• Proposed and led an improvement initiative in the IT equipment provisioning process that resulted in an annual savings of $1.5 million.
• Performed Infrastructure Project Management for the network infrastructure architecture, database servers, application servers, client deployment, and technical support for the implementation of a new health care management system.
• Project Manager of the network infrastructure implementation (network integration, telecommunications and Automated Call Distribution system, desktop installation, and technical support) of an acquisition containing 500 Call Center seats and 150 additional support seats.
• Project Manager and Network Engineer for the relocation and consolidation of 250 PCs and 20 servers from 5 sites across a large city in Hampton Roads into two locations.
• Performed LAN and WAN architecture and engineering for an enterprise with a centrally located data center and 42 remote locations.
Best Practices
KC3 IT also implements for all clients the IT Service Management framework which is based on the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices.
Ken gained a vast amount of business experience by succeeding in many business environments including defense contracting, corporate, and consulting. His ability to get jobs done correctly and lead his teams to great successes always led to promotions. At one point in his career, Ken served as "Associate Vice President of IT, Service Management" in an industry-leading, publicly-traded company.
Ken earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Mathematics in 1988 from Virginia Wesleyan College and his Master of Engineering in Computer Engineering in 1999 from Old Dominion University.
His certifications include:
• Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations Certificate
• Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE)
Ken and his wife are Norfolk natives and have two teenage sons. Ken's hobbies include golfing, softball, and watching college basketball.
